Raw Sugar

Raw sugar is the raw material for refined sugar. Known as raw centrifugal cane sugar, this light-brown raw sugar is produced from sugarcane. It is a perennial plant which inhabits in high-temperature and humidity environment. Therefore, sugarcanes are produced in central and south america (in detail, Brazil, Mexico, and Columbia), or in south asia (exemplified in India and Pakistan), or east asia (mainly in China). After produced and processed into raw sugar in those countries, it is purified into pure white sugar, granular sugar, and other types of sugars at consumption areas. Sugar is also produced from the sugar beets, but most of the sugars made from sugar beets are purified where it is produced, so raw sugar are not produced.

Further, Japan relies approximately 60% of it’s consumption on imports.(The Raw Sugar Market has suspended transactions since October 4th, 2022)
